Performs tasks working as a trainee acquiring the skills necessary to perform highly technical electrical work on energized/de-energized, low and medium voltage lines and equipment.
Under direct supervision, provides manpower while acquiring the knowledge, pre-requisite skills and proficiency in the work methods necessary for the proper construction, maintenance and operation of an electric distribution system.
Must possess the aptitude, manual dexterity and willingness to perform tasks on electric power lines while working out of an aerial device or on a pole/structure 100 ft above the ground.
Graduation from an accredited high school or equivalent. Position requirement ranges from entry level to 3 years of experience working on low and medium voltage distribution electrical power lines and equipment.
Valid Texas Class A Commercial Drivers License or ability to acquire license and/or endorsements within 90 days of employment.
General to specific knowledge of working near or on energized lines, equipment and devices.
Ability to climb, or acquire the ability to climb, electrical poles and structures within 90 days of employment.
Ability to function as part of a highly skilled team.
Experience with a variety of hand and power tools.
Ability to comprehend and implement safety measures at the work site.
Work is performed outside in varying temperatures and conditions while exposed to electrical and other hazards.
Position requires the ability to read and perform basic mathematical computations. The position also requires the ability to clearly and coherently communicate using a verbal and written form of the English language.
