JOB
Specialized, technical work relating to all phases and types of fire protection plans and systems, review of building plans for code compliance and conduct fire and life safety inspections in all types of new construction, remodels and existing structures. Work is performed under the direction of the Fire Marshall. This position is a planned successor to higher positions in the Division with accomplished efforts in higher level understanding and application of codes and standards through education, networking, and experience.

Education and Experience:

High school graduate or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma; Associates degree in related field preferred.

Five (5) years of experience with fire systems and building plans review.

Reasonable amount of experience in business and office administration, office procedures.
(A comparable amount of relevant training, education and/or experience may be substituted for the above qualifications.)
Licenses and Certifications:

Possession of, or ability to obtain a valid Florida driver's license Class E by date of hire.

Must have a valid Florida State Fire Marshal's Office Fire Safety Inspector certification by date of hire and must possess or obtain NFPA Certified Fire Plan Examiner (CFPE) certification within 12 months or as agreed upon at time of hire; or must have a valid Florida State Building Code Administrator certification by date of hire and must possess or obtain a valid Florida State Fire Marshal's Office Fire Safety Inspector certification and must possess or obtain NFPA Certified Fire Plan Examiner (CFPE) certification within 12 months or as agreed upon at time of hire.
