Established in 1974, Nephrology Associates, P.A. is a single-specialty practice focusing on the care of patients with kidney disease and hypertension. Our physicians are on-staff at all major hospitals in Delaware, as well as Union Hospital in Cecil County, Maryland.

Position Summary
The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) plays a critical role in providing exceptional patient care and ensures efficient coordination of patient visits. This role works closely with our physicians, nurses, and office staff to support patient needs, perform clinical tasks, and manage administrative duties. The LPN must possess a Delaware PN License and CPR Certification, as well as great communication skills, and outstanding patient care.

Telephone triage for patients office patients
- Call patients back promptly
- Consult physician as required and communicate physician instructions to patient.
- Perform accurate and legal documentation in EHR
- Arrange testing/medications/Prior Authorizations as needed.
EHR
- Review EHR clinical charts including lab values, studies ordered and hospitalizations, notify physician if needed.
- Data entry - Medication and lab values; corrections to medication list as needed.
- Medication refills
Other
- Measure and record vital signs
- Schedule office injections
- Administer injections
- Assist patients and physicians as needed
- Provide assistance for nurse practitioners
- Provide patient education; review discharge instructions with patients, when needed
- Advocate for patient in regard to understanding discharge instructions, medication changes or studies requested by the physician.
- Maintain supplies and equipment
- Maintain medication inventory
- Provide Backup to Medical Assistants
Education and Experience Requirements
- Postsecondary certificate from vocational school or PN degree required.
- Current state licensure required.
- CPR Certification required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Travel may be required to other office locations to meet the needs of the practice.
- Work consistent with HIPPA and OSHA regulation.
- General knowledge of nursing and health care terminology.
- Excellent patient care skills.
- Effectively communicate with patients, their families, and other healthcare professionals.
- Ability to cope with stressful situations, providing compassionate care to patients, their families, and colleagues.
- Proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and hygiene practices are required.
- Must be able to perform CPR.
Physical Requirements
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- May require extended periods of walking and standing.
- Must be able to support up to 75 pounds to reposition, transfer, and ambulate patients safely.
- Occasionally requires the ability to push wheelchair-bound patients to exam rooms.
- Able to carry up to 45lbs frequently, and 50lbs occasionally.
- Able to bend, stoop, and reach frequently.
- High level of manual dexterity and visual acuity is required.
- Adequate hearing is required for communication, cues indicating patient status, and medical equipment alarms.
