American Traveler is hiring a Registered Nurse for a NICU position requiring 2 years of Level 4 (or strong Level 3 surgical) experience and an active California RN license.

Work in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) of a Level 1 trauma, Magnet-recognized teaching hospital with 60 staffed beds
-
Care for critically ill neonates, including surgical and cardiac cases
-
Shifts available as variable day/night or straight nights, 3x12-hour shifts (7:00-19:00 or 19:00-7:00)
-
Must be available to work weekends with full scheduling flexibility
-
Required to work 2 of the following 3 holidays: Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's

No on-call requirements

Float within scope of practice to PICU, CTICU/CVICU, and Med Surg
-
May float to NICU satellite campuses including Rancho Springs, Palomar, Scripps Encinitas, Scripps La Jolla, and Scripps Mercy
-
Uses Epic for charting
-
Uses oscillator and conventional ventilators, CPAP, nasal cannula specialty gases, PICC lines, Broviacs, UAC/UVC/PAL lines, trachs, ostomies, and G-tubes

No block scheduling accommodations available

Active California RN license required in hand, or acceptable ETA of licensure posting

BLS certification required
-
Advanced NRP certification required
-
PALS certification preferred
-
Minimum 2 years of recent Level 4 NICU experience required
-
Strong Level 3 NICU surgical experience considered in lieu of Level 4 experience, provided the unit performs surgeries on newborns
-
Cardiac experience required
-
Experience with line changes involving multiple drips and pre/post-operative care required
-
Experience attending high-risk deliveries preferred
-
Must have own transportation for potential float assignments to satellite locations
-
First-time travelers considered if they have Level 4 NICU experience
-
Provide comprehensive neonatal intensive care including ventilator management (AC/PC/SIMV/CPAP/BIPAP/PEEP), IV therapy, central/implanted line care, and IV vasopressor administration
-
Care for neonates with gastrointestinal conditions including gastroschisis/omphalocele and provide post-abdominal surgical care

Any scrub color permitted

Maximum requested time off (RTO) is 6 days

Local candidates not accepted; candidates living within 50 miles of the facility are considered local
