Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Chemical Dependency Counselor to join our team. In this role, you will provide support and guidance to individuals struggling with substance use disorders. You will work closely with clients to develop personalized treatment plans, facilitate therapy sessions, and assist in their recovery journey. The ideal candidate will possess strong crisis management skills and a deep understanding of addiction treatment methodologies.
Duties
- Conduct assessments to determine the needs and challenges of clients dealing with chemical dependency.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans that address the specific needs of each client.
- Provide direct support through individual and group counseling sessions, utilizing evidence-based practices.
- Engage in crisis intervention when necessary, ensuring the safety and well-being of clients.
- Collect and maintain accurate data on client progress, treatment outcomes, and any relevant incidents.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals, including psychiatrists and social workers, to coordinate comprehensive care.
- Facilitate educational workshops on substance abuse prevention and recovery strategies.
- Offer support for PTSD care as part of a holistic approach to treatment.
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical guidelines in all interactions with clients.
Qualifications
- Relevant certification required (LCDC / LCDC-I )
- Experience in patient care or direct support roles within a clinical or hospital setting is highly desirable.
- Strong skills in crisis management and crisis intervention techniques.
- Familiarity with psychotherapy methods applicable to addiction treatment.
- Knowledge of case management practices to effectively track client progress and coordinate services.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to build rapport with clients from diverse backgrounds.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team environment.
