Pay to be based on experience and can be paid as an employee or 1099 Contractor
The Project Engineer supports the successful planning, coordination, execution, and delivery of mining, mineral processing, and industrial EPCM projects. The role provides technical and administrative support throughout engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, and project closeout activities.
The Project Engineer works closely with Project Managers, Engineering Managers, Construction Managers, clients, vendors, and contractors to facilitate communication, coordinate project activities, monitor progress, and helps achieve project objectives related to safety, quality, schedule, and cost.
This position is intended to support the development of future project execution leaders and provides exposure to all phases of project delivery.

Primary Responsibilities
Project Coordination
- Assist with planning, coordination, and execution of EPCM projects.
- Support the development and maintenance of project execution plans.
- Coordinate activities between engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, and client teams.
- Monitor project progress and identify potential risks, constraints, and opportunities.
- Assist in tracking project action items and ensuring timely resolution.
Engineering Support
- Support engineering deliverables through coordination of design reviews and interdisciplinary communication.
- Assist with technical evaluations, vendor document reviews, and engineering change management.
- Help ensure engineering deliverables are issued in accordance with project schedules.
- Facilitate communication between engineering teams and construction personnel.
Procurement Support
- Assist in the preparation of bid packages, requests for quotation, and purchase requisitions.
- Support vendor evaluations and technical bid reviews.
- Track procurement status and coordinate delivery of equipment and materials.
- Assist with expediting critical equipment and materials.
Construction Support
- Support field construction activities and coordination efforts.
- Assist with the interpretation of drawings, specifications, and engineering documentation.
- Participate in constructability reviews and installation planning.
- Support management of Requests for Information (RFIs), Technical Queries (TQs), and field changes.
- Assist in monitoring contractor performance and project progress.
Project Controls Support
- Assist with schedule updates and progress reporting.
- Support tracking of project costs, commitments, and forecasts.
- Participate in project status meetings and prepare meeting minutes.
- Assist with the development and maintenance of project reporting metrics.
Quality and Compliance
- Support the implementation of project quality requirements.
- Assist with managing document control processes.
- Support review and tracking of inspection and testing documentation.
- Assist with the management of non-conformance reports and corrective actions as required.
- Promote compliance with project procedures, standards, and specifications.
Commissioning and Startup Support
- Support planning and execution of commissioning activities.
- Assist with developing and tracking commissioning documentation.
- Participate in turnover, punch list, and project closeout activities.
- Support transition from construction to operations.
Health, Safety, and Environmental Responsibilities
- Promote a strong safety culture consistent with GRES values.
- Comply with all company, client, MSHA, OSHA, and site-specific safety requirements.
- Participate in safety meetings, field observations, and hazard identification activities.
- Support environmental compliance and stewardship initiatives.
Required Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Civil, Structural, Electrical, Chemical, Mining, Industrial, or related discipline), Construction Management, Business Administration, or a related technical field.
- MBA or advanced degree is considered an asset but is not required.
Experience
- One (1) to six (6) years of experience supporting engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, project controls, or project management activities.
- Experience within mining, mineral processing, industrial facilities, manufacturing, power generation, heavy civil, or EPC/EPCM projects is preferred.
- Recent graduates with relevant internship, co-op, field engineering, or construction experience are encouraged to apply.

- Familiarity with project management, scheduling, cost control, CAD, document management, or ERP systems is considered an asset.
Preferred Qualifications
- Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification.
- MSHA or OSHA safety training.
- Experience working on active construction sites.
- Exposure to mining and mineral processing operations.
- Familiarity with Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, Bluebeam, AutoCAD, or similar software.
Travel Requirements
- Ability to travel to project sites as required.
- Ability to work in office, field, construction, and operating plant environments.
