The Chemical Operator carries out independently and responsibly all operations required to safely control machinery, equipment, and the Production Process.
Qualified individuals will combine safety, chemical processing, and computer and team skills to contribute to a highly skilled workforce.
Qualifications
- H.S. diploma or equivalent
- Proven stable and dedicated work history
- Able to work 12 hour shift schedule and lift 50 pounds
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Monitors and controls chemical processing systems using instrument readings, flow meters, and control panels to ensure compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory standards (cGMP, Kosher).
- Adjusts valves and system controls to regulate temperature, pressure, and material flow within critical operating limits.
- Records process data and calculates material requirements and product yield based on standard formulas.
- Observes gauges and indicators to verify process stability, efficiency, and product quality.
- Conducts and documents inspections of safety equipment, process equipment, and forklifts.
- Identifies and responds to spills, assessing potential hazardous waste and coordinating with EH&S.
- Handles hazardous waste by collecting, labeling, and storing materials in approved containers and designated areas.
Physical Demands:
Frequently climbs stairs, uses hands for handling and reaching, and performs prolonged standing and walking; occasionally lifts up to 100 lbs. Requires close and distance vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment, with the ability to sustain performance over extended 12-hour shifts.
Work Environment:
Manufacturing plant with no significant noise level but regular exposure to machinery as well as hazardous chemicals and fumes/odors.
Pay and Benefits
The starting rate for this position is $20 to $23 /hr.
