The Bookkeeper / Junior Accountant is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, performing reconciliations, supporting month-end and year-end closing activities, and assisting with tax and investor reporting. This role works closely with management, the Accounts Payable team, external CPAs, and investors to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting across multiple entities.
Experience in Real Estate or Real Estate investment accounting will be preferable.
Key Responsibilities Accounting & Financial Reporting:
- Prepare monthly bank reconciliations for all assigned entities.
- Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts.
- Prepare and review Balance Sheets and Profit & Loss Statements for all entities.
- Assist with month-end and year-end closing procedures.
Investor Accounting
- Process annual investor return entries.
- Prepare investor distribution checks and supporting documentation.
- Maintain accurate investor records and schedules.
- Assist management with investor reporting requests.
Tax & Compliance Support
- Prepare and file annual 1099 forms for vendors across all entities.
- Gather and organize financial information required for tax preparation.
- Work directly with external CPAs during tax preparation and year-end reviews.
- Update adjusting journal entries provided by the CPA.
- Assist in finalizing tax returns and responding to CPA requests.
Transaction & General Ledger Management
- Record journal entries related to property acquisitions, sales, and other transactions based on closing statements.
- Review closing documents and ensure accurate accounting treatment.
- Maintain supporting documentation for all journal entries.
- Assist with account analysis and reconciliation of balance sheet accounts.
Administrative & Team Support
- Maintain organized financial records and supporting documentation.
- Collaborate with management and accounting staff to improve accounting processes and accuracy.
- Support special projects and additional accounting duties as assigned.
- Bank/UPS Check drop offs
Qualifications
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
- 1–3 years of bookkeeping or accounting experience preferred.
- Experience with QuickBooks or similar accounting software.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial statements.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple entities and deadlines simultaneously.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with real estate, property management, or construction accounting.
- Familiarity with investor accounting and distributions.
- Understanding of 1099 reporting requirements.
- Ability to work effectively with external CPAs and auditors.
Pay: $55,978.28 - $67,414.70 per year
