A skilled nursing and rehabilitation center is seeking an experienced Director of Maintenance to lead all facility maintenance, safety, and environmental services operations. Position Summary
The Director of Maintenance is responsible for overseeing the operation, maintenance, repair, and regulatory compliance of the facility's physical plant, equipment, grounds, and utility systems. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in healthcare maintenance, life safety compliance, and team leadership.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the day-to-day operations of the Maintenance Department.
- Develop and implement preventative maintenance programs for building systems and equipment.
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, local, OSHA, and Life Safety Code regulations.
- Conduct routine inspections of facility systems, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire safety, and emergency power systems.
- Coordinate repairs, renovations, and vendor services as needed.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records, logs, and compliance documentation.
- Manage departmental budgets, supply inventories, and capital equipment projects.
- Oversee facility emergency preparedness plans and respond to urgent maintenance issues.
- Collaborate with department leaders to support operational needs and resident satisfaction.
- Supervise, coach, and develop maintenance staff.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; technical training or related certifications preferred.
- Minimum of 3–5 years of maintenance leadership experience, preferably in a skilled nursing, long-term care, healthcare, or rehabilitation setting.
- Strong working knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, mechanical systems, and general building maintenance.
- Experience with healthcare regulatory compliance, Life Safety Code requirements, and environmental safety standards.
- Ability to read blueprints, technical manuals, and maintenance documentation.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Valid driver's license and ability to participate in on-call responsibilities as required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Trades licensure and/or certifications in HVAC, electrical, plumbing, or related fields.
- Experience preparing for and participating in state, federal, and accreditation surveys.
- Knowledge of emergency generators, fire alarm systems, and building automation systems.
