PPAP Quality Engineer
Pay: $42.00 to $47.50 per hour
Location: Lawrence, MA
Schedule: Monday through Friday, first shift
Hours: Full-time or part-time options available, 20 to 40 hours per week
Duration: Contract expected to last at least 6 months, with potential for extension or permanent employment
An established manufacturer in Lawrence, MA is seeking an experienced PPAP Quality Engineer to take ownership of the Production Part Approval Process for new products, customer programs, and major contract opportunities.
This is a hands-on quality engineering position for someone who can independently prepare PPAP documentation, evaluate manufacturing processes, and work across Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain, and Quality to move products successfully into production.
The ideal candidate has direct experience completing PPAP packages and is comfortable developing PFMEAs, Process Flow Diagrams, Control Plans, measurement studies, and customer submission documentation.
What You Will Do
- Own PPAP preparation and submission from initial planning through customer approval
- Develop Process Flow Diagrams, PFMEAs, Control Plans, and final PPAP packages
- Partner with Engineering and Operations to understand and validate manufacturing processes
- Coordinate raw material certifications, supplier documentation, and product traceability
- Support First Article Inspections and new product introduction activities
- Perform Measurement System Analysis, including Gage R&R studies
- Complete process capability analysis, including Cpk studies
- Review engineering drawings, specifications, and customer quality requirements
- Develop inspection plans, methods, and documentation
- Recommend and help implement new gages and inspection equipment
- Support manufacturing cell development and process improvements
- Work with internal teams and customers to resolve quality concerns and secure PPAP approval
- Maintain accurate and organized quality records throughout each project
What We Are Looking For
- Direct experience independently completing PPAP packages
- Experience developing PFMEAs, Control Plans, and Process Flow Diagrams
- Working knowledge of APQP principles
- Experience with MSA, Gage R&R, and process capability studies
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications
- Experience with mechanical inspection techniques and inspection equipment
- Strong technical documentation and project coordination skills
- Ability to work effectively with Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and Quality teams
- Strong organization, follow-through, and attention to detail
Experience in automotive, aerospace, medical device, plastics manufacturing, injection molding, precision machining, or another regulated manufacturing environment is strongly preferred.
A specific degree is less important than demonstrated, hands-on experience owning the PPAP process.
