Job Summary
Part time: approximately 20 hours per week (M-Fri: 2pm-6pm) with additional hours available.
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Personal Care Assistant (PCA) to provide essential support and care to a young adult individual in his home environment. In this role, you will play a vital part in enhancing the quality of life by assisting with daily activities, monitoring health status, and ensuring a safe, comfortable environment. Your energy, empathy, and attention to detail will help foster independence and dignity.
Responsibilities
- Assist client with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), such as bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting/diapering, and mobility support
- Monitor patients’ health by observing vital signs, reporting changes, and maintaining accurate care records in compliance with HIPAA regulations
- Prepare enteral feedings as prescribed and deliver bolus G-tube feedings
- Maintain a clean and safe environment by performing light housekeeping duties including cleaning patient areas and common spaces used by individual
- Use specialized equipment such as Hoyer lifts or resident lifts to ensure safe transfers to and from wheelchair, and prevent injury during mobility assistance
- Provide emotional support and companionship to residents or clients, fostering a positive and engaging atmosphere
Requirements
- Prior experience working in group homes, assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or home & community care settings is highly preferred; CNA experience preferred.
- Knowledge of patient observation techniques, and working with individuals with developmental disabilities or autism
- Certification in CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) and First Aid is required; additional certifications such as HIPAA training are a plus
- Ability to lift heavy objects safely and perform physically demanding tasks as needed for patient transfers or mobility assistance
- Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with family, and other caregivers
- Experience with enteral (G-tube) administration, basic vital signs monitoring, and following care plans is desirable
