This position requires independent judgement and supports the mission of Lake Agassiz Regional Library to enrich lives and strengthen communities; the position requires contact with library staff and the public. Responsible for duties related to interlibrary loan.
Essential Duties:
- Place, receive and fill requests for materials
- Create temporary records to facilitate the circulation of ILL materials
- Process overdues and billing for overdue library materials
- Receive payment of service charges and other fees
- Discharge materials and prepare them for return to loaning libraries
- Pack and unpack materials for delivery
- Compile statistical data for reports
- Attend regional and statewide meetings
- Provide ILL training and support to the region
Other
- Act as backup in the absence of routing and rotation assistant and technical services associate
- Process new materials
- Mend library materials
- Collect/process/deliver/sort/distribute mail to/from the post office
- Perform opening and closing procedures for the regional office
- Assist customers by directing questions to appropriate staff
- Keep workspace clean and attractive
- Discard library materials
- Assist in establishing policies and procedures
- Participate in regional library teams, committees and projects
- Attend meetings and training as required
- Assist in training staff and overseeing volunteers
- Perform related duties as assigned

Education/Experience/License:
- Degree from a four-year college or university.
- Library, customer service, or related work experience preferred.
- A valid driver’s license.
Language Ability:
Able to communicate clearly using English, both written and oral.

The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet.
The work schedule includes day hours Monday-Friday.

- Able to stand, walk, crouch, stoop, squat, twist, climb, push/pull, up to 40 lbs.
- Able to use hands to grasp a barcode scanner and keyboard for extended periods.

- Clarity of vision at approximately 20 inches or less (i.e., working with small objects or reading small print), including use of computers.
- Clarity of vision at 20 feet or more. This is not just the ability to see a person or object, but the ability to recognize features as well.
- Ability to drive to other locations as needed.
Working Conditions:
40 hours per week. Salary: $19.23 per hour
