Job Overview

Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, including vital signs, physical examinations, and medical history documentation using Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems such as Epic or Cerner.
- Administer medications and injections accurately following HIPAA regulations and aseptic techniques, including IV infusions and medication administration.
- Perform specialized procedures such as suturing, catheterization, tube feeding, wound care, and ventilator management in accordance with clinical protocols.
- Coordinate patient care plans through case management practices, discharge planning, and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams across settings like hospital medicine, outpatient clinics, long-term care facilities, or hospice environments.
- Manage emergency situations effectively by applying critical care skills such as airway management, trauma medicine, ICU procedures, neonatal resuscitation procedures (NRP), and acute pain management.
- Ensure compliance with infection control standards and maintain accurate medical records in accordance with HIPAA and NCQA standards.
- Support patients with developmental disabilities or memory care needs by providing tailored nursing interventions that promote safety and well-being.
Skills
- Extensive experience working with Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems such as MatrixCare for documentation and patient data management.
- Proficiency in performing complex clinical procedures including IV insertion, phlebotomy, laboratory specimen collection/processing, and sterile processing techniques.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, ICD coding (ICD-9/ICD-10), CPT coding for billing purposes, and diagnostic evaluation methods.
- Demonstrated expertise in diverse nursing specialties such as Alzheimer’s/dementia care.
- Skilled in patient assessment techniques like vital signs monitoring, physiological assessments, respiratory support including ventilator management, and airway management strategies.
- Exceptional communication skills for triage situations, health coaching sessions, teaching long term care experiences or case management activities that enhance patient understanding and compliance.
