JOB This position is responsible for performing line construction and maintenance work, install conductors, transformers, reclosers, switches, and primary fuses, and operate heavy equipment.
Starting pay for this position will be determined based on the successful candidate's experience. This position is intended to move through steps. EXAMPLE OF DUTIES Works under general direction of line supervisor. SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
Examples of acceptable qualifications:
Journeyman
Must meet state requirements for a Journeyman;
Must possess and maintain a valid State of Ohio vehicle operator’s license and remain insurable under the City’s vehicle insurance policy; Ohio Commercial Class A with air brakes driver’s license; First Aid and CPR Training certification.
Any combination of education, training and/or experience equivalent to the minimum qualifications stated above.

KNOWLEDGE OF: electrical codes, electrical installation, maintenance, and repair, electrical principles, agency goals and objectives*, agency policies and procedures, practices, methods, and tools, and equipment used in the installation, extension, and repair of electric lines, occupational hazards of the job, the safe and correct use of heavy equipment, hand and power tools common to the work, electrical theory.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS / WORK ENVIRONMENT:
The employee is exposed to chemical compounds found in an office environment (e.g., toner, correction fluid, etc.); works in and around crowds; trucks) is exposed to environmental conditions which may result in injury from fumes, odors, dusts, mists, gases, and/or poorly ventilated work areas; is exposed to possible injury from extremely noisy conditions above 85db; is exposed to possible injury from hazardous gases, chemicals, flammables, or air conditions; is exposed to possible injury as a result of electrical shock; is exposed to possible injury as a result of working with moving mechanical parts of equipment or machines; is exposed to possible injury as a result of falling from high places; has contact with potentially violent or emotionally distraught persons; has exposure to potentially vicious animals; has exposure to life threatening situations; has exposure to fire; has exposure to hot, cold, wet, humid, or windy weather conditions; has exposure to hazardous driving conditions; has exposure to shaking objects or surfaces.
