Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and adaptable individual to fill the role of Substitute Paraprofessional. The ideal candidate will provide support to teachers and students in a variety of classroom settings, ensuring a positive and productive learning environment. This position requires flexibility, strong communication skills, and the ability to work effectively with diverse student populations.
Responsibilities
- Assist classroom and Special Education teachers in delivering instructional activities and educational support to students.
- Supervise and monitor student behavior during classroom activities, lunch, recess, and other school events.
- Provide individualized support to students with special needs, including academic assistance and behavioral guidance.
- Help prepare instructional materials and set up classroom equipment as needed.
- Maintain a safe and orderly classroom environment conducive to learning.
- Follow lesson plans and ensure continuity of instruction.
- Communicate effectively with students, teachers, and staff to foster a collaborative educational environment.
- Assist in the assessment of student progress and provide feedback to the classroom teacher.
- Participate in staff meetings and professional development opportunities as required.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; some college coursework in education or related field preferred.
- Previous experience working with children, preferably in a school setting.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with others.
- Ability to adapt to various classroom environments and respond to the needs of different students.
- Basic understanding of educational practices and classroom management techniques.
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine interest in supporting student learning and development.
- Must pass background checks and meet any other state or district requirements for employment.
- Availability to work on short notice and flexibility in scheduling.
