1:1 Behavioral Support Paraeducator (BSP / RBT) – Severe Behaviors & Needs
Location: Wilmington, Delaware
Assignment Dates: April 29, 2026 – June 11, 2026
Schedule: Full-Time | 37.5 Hours per Week
Hours: Monday – Friday | 8:30 AM – 4:00 PM
Setting: Elementary School
Position Overview:
We are seeking a compassionate, dependable, and confident 1:1 Behavioral Support Paraeducator (BSP) or Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) to provide direct support for an elementary student with severe behavioral needs. Candidates must be comfortable working with challenging behaviors and providing hands-on assistance in a school setting.

Student Support Needs:

Provide dedicated 1:1 behavioral and classroom support

Student may engage in spitting during behaviors (face masks will be provided for protection)
-
Toileting assistance is required
-
Assist with behavior redirection, emotional regulation, and maintaining a safe environment

Support participation in classroom routines and educational activities
-
Responsibilities
-
Deliver daily one-on-one student support throughout the school day
-
Implement behavior strategies and follow school-based support plans
-
Collaborate with teachers, special education staff, and school leadership

Maintain professionalism, patience, and consistency during escalated behaviors
-
Assist with hygiene and toileting needs as required

Ensure student safety and engagement throughout the day
Qualifications:
Candidates must meet one of the following requirements:

Completed Paraeducator Certification
-
OR
-
Minimum of 60 college credit hours
-
OR
-
Willingness to take and pass the Paraeducator Exam prior to start date

Effective February 1st, Delaware DOE requires one of the above for permit eligibility.
RBT Candidates – Important Note
District will not provide BCBA supervision-
Agency supervision is no longer permitted

RBT candidates must independently secure outside supervision to maintain certification, or allow certification to lapse
