Job Overview
We are seeking a passionate and dynamic Math Teacher to inspire students and foster a love for mathematics across various grade levels. In this role, you will deliver engaging lessons, develop comprehensive curricula, and utilize innovative learning technologies to enhance student understanding. Your expertise will help students build strong foundational skills in algebra, geometry, calculus, trigonometry, and other advanced mathematical concepts. As a dedicated educator, you will also mentor students, support diverse learning needs—including special education—and contribute to a positive classroom environment that encourages curiosity and academic excellence.
Duties
- Design and implement engaging lesson plans aligned with curriculum standards, incorporating instructional design principles and technology tools.
- Deliver clear, interactive instruction in core math topics such as algebra, geometry, calculus, differential equations, discrete math, and trigonometry.
- Assess student progress through standardized testing, quizzes, projects, and formative assessments; provide timely feedback to support growth.
- Manage classroom behavior effectively while fostering an inclusive environment that respects diverse learning styles and needs.
- Collaborate with colleagues on curriculum development, research initiatives, and educational best practices to continuously improve teaching strategies.
- Mentor students individually or in groups through tutoring sessions or academic advising to enhance understanding of complex concepts like organic chemistry or molecular biology when applicable.
- Utilize learning technology and library services to enrich lessons and facilitate scientific research or laboratory experiments in areas such as microbiology or biochemistry.
- Support students preparing for standardized tests by developing targeted practice sessions and instructional materials.
- Engage in professional development opportunities related to higher education teaching, special education strategies, Montessori methods, or behavior management techniques.
Qualifications
- Proven classroom experience teaching math at various educational levels with a strong understanding of curriculum development and instructional design.
- Demonstrated expertise in core mathematical disciplines including algebra, geometry, calculus (including differential equations), trigonometry, discrete math, and proofing techniques.
- Experience working with students of diverse backgrounds and learning needs; familiarity with special education practices is a plus.
- Strong communication skills for effective instruction, mentoring, and collaboration with colleagues and parents.
- Laboratory experience or research laboratory experience related to scientific fields such as microbiology or biochemistry is desirable.
- Knowledge of learning technology tools used for lesson planning, instructional delivery, and student assessment.
- Ability to manage classroom behavior effectively while fostering a positive learning environment.
- Higher education teaching experience or private school experience preferred; certifications in education administration or Montessori methods are advantageous.
