Position Summary:
The Senior Buyer position is a highly visible role at Sukhi’s that is responsible for ingredients and packaging materials at the Hayward manufacturing plant as well as for key components for its co-packers. The successful candidate will work closely with all cross-functional departments to support existing and new product products, strengthen supplier relationships, manage risks, and drive continuous improvement, all while supporting Sukhi’s core values.
Requirements
· Bachelor's degree in supply chain, operations, or business-related field
· Five to Ten years of purchasing experience, preferably in the food or CPG industry
· Strong MRP/ERP experience along with data modeling/analysis in Excel, with SAP knowledge being a plus
· Thrives in a fast-paced, dynamic business environment while prioritizing competing demands
· Keen ability to identify risks, develop mitigation plans, and ensure continuity of supply while meeting business objectives
· Excellent communications skills with strong attention to detail and follow-up
· Strong initiative to work independently, deal with conflicts, and see problems through to resolution
Key Responsibilities:
· Negotiate supplier pricing, contract terms, delivery schedules, and service agreements to optimize cost, quality, and performance
· Drive cost reduction initiatives through supplier negotiations, strategic sourcing, and alternate sourcing
· Manage long lead-time materials and proactively identify and mitigate supply chain risks to minimize production disruptions
· Partner with cross-functional teams to ensure material readiness and support uninterrupted production
· Respond quickly and effectively to shortages, supply disruptions, expedited requirements, and changing business needs
· Develop, issue, and manage Requests for Quotation (RFQs), conduct bid evaluations, and make sourcing recommendations
· Analyze supplier quotations, market intelligence, commodity trends, and historical pricing data to support strategic decisions
· Establish and maintain strong supplier relationships that align with long-term business goals and initiatives
· Monitor supplier performance through key performance indicators (KPIs), supplier scorecards, and regular business reviews
· Ensure purchasing activities meet company policies, quality standards, regulatory requirements, and ethical practices.
· Participate in supplier audits, corrective action processes, and continuous improvement initiatives
· Proactively escalate supply risks, supplier issues, and operational challenges to leadership and solutions
· Work closely with co-manufacturers to coordinate production schedules, resolve issues, and drive continuous improvement
· Partner with quality assurance to update and maintain product specifications
