About the Role
Port Royal Brands DBA Walk-On's Sports Bistreaux is hiring a Kitchen Manager for our location at The Battery Atlanta.
The Kitchen Manager (KM) supports the Executive Kitchen Manager across all culinary operations of a Walk-On's Sports Bistreaux, providing leadership and direction to the Heart of House (HOH) team. The KM helps run a high-volume, creative, scratch kitchen through impeccable recipe and spec knowledge, strong culinary technique, and hands-on experience. This is a culinary-driven environment built on the freshest ingredients, a spotless kitchen, top-of-the-line equipment, and high operating standards. The KM promotes a fun, welcoming workplace through positive reinforcement and teamwork, and motivates, coaches, teaches, develops, and inspires the Heart of House team to deliver memorable food to every guest. The KM also supports the EKM in building sales and maximizing financial success through controlled food and labor costs.
Job Duties
- Ensures proper staffing by recruiting and interviewing talented kitchen team members in line with company guidelines
- Manages the HOH team, including scheduling, performance feedback, and discipline
- Motivates the team daily to create a fun and successful work environment
- Maintains the highest food quality from the back door to the guest's table
- Leads ongoing training and professional development for all HOH team members
- Maintains and exceeds all Walk-On's standards, holding the team to the same standards
- Communicates effectively with the management and corporate teams to ensure smooth, efficient operations
- Builds trust with team members and fellow managers through clear, honest communication and feedback
- Completes all operational tasks assigned by the EKM or GM and holds himself or herself accountable for their completion
- Ensures adherence to all kitchen systems
- Follows proper inventory procedures
- Supports and reinforces the restaurant's highest food-quality standards through Walk-On's systems and standards
- Adheres to Walk-On's/EcoSure safety and sanitation guidelines
- Drives the financial success of the HOH through proper food cost, inventory levels, minimal waste, and labor costs
- Creates an atmosphere where fellow managers and team members can thrive and enjoy their work
- Stays an expert on all current metrics, including sales, profitability, COGS, labor, and other costs
- Contributes thoughtful, impactful input in weekly manager meetings
- Leads by example, keeping a "team before self" mentality at all levels
- Sets the standard in work ethic and attitude, holding self and team accountable for all wins and losses
- Performs any other duties as assigned by your supervisor
Skills & Qualifications
- 2+ years of kitchen management experience in a full-service, high-volume restaurant
- Solid track record of success and upward career progression in prior roles
- Strong communication and leadership skills
- Culinary school background a plus
