Description:
Project Engineer leads assigned manufacturing projects from initial concept through production launch and ongoing engineering support. This position serves as a primary technical liaison among suppliers, and internal departments to ensure project requirements are clearly defined and completed within established timing, budget, quality, safety, and performance expectations.
The Project Engineer coordinates equipment development activities associated with aluminum casting and related manufacturing operations, including project planning, APQP, engineering changes, equipment readiness, machine launch execution, and continuous improvement.

Lead assigned new equipment and facility projects from concept through launch and transition into stable production.

Develop and maintain project timing plans, budgets, milestones, deliverables, risk registers, and open-issue lists.

Communicate project status, risks, resource needs, and changes to customers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders.

Lead or coordinate cross-functional project teams involving Engineering, Quality, Production, Maintenance, Purchasing, Finance, suppliers, and other functions as required.

Coordinate engineering changes related to equipment capability, including technical review, cost and timing, evaluation, documentation, and approval implementation.

Support production and process feasibility review to confirm that requirements can be achieved at the expected quality, production rate, cost, and capacity.

Develop or coordinate technical specifications for tooling, dies, fixtures, gauges, equipment, and purchased components.

Support sourcing, supplier development, equipment acceptance, installation, validation, and production buyoff.

Evaluate cycle times, production capacity, process flow, and capital-equipment needs.

Coordinate trial runs, validation activities, launch audits, and production-equipment needs.

Partner with Quality and Process Engineering in the development and maintenance of applicable process documentation, including process documentation, including process flow diagrams, PFMEAs, control plans, work instructions, and capability studies.

Support resolution of customer and production concerns involving equipment performance and capability.

Lead or participate in cost-reduction, quality-improvement, scrap-reduction, capacity, and other continuous-improvement projects.
Academic Requirements
-
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical field required; equivalent/directly related education and experience may be considered based on company policy.

Three (3) to five (5) years of project manufacturing, process, or launch engineering experience preferred.

Automotive manufacturing experience is highly preferred.

Aluminum casting, die-casting, machining, tooling, or related high-volume manufacturing experience preferred.

Experience coordinating projects involving customers, suppliers, and cross-functional manufacturing teams preferred.
Required Skills & Experience
-
Excellent planning and organizational skills with the ability to effectively manage multiple tasks to completion within a team environment.

Working knowledge of APQP, PFMEA, control plans, SPC, MSA, and other applicable AIAG Core Tools.

Familiarity with IATF 16949 and applicable customer-specific requirements.

Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and technical standards.

Knowledge of aluminum casting and related machining or finishing processes preferred.

Demonstrated project management, organization, problem-solving, and risk-management skills.

Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office and project-management software.

Experience with CAD, statistical-analysis, ERP, or manufacturing management systems preferred.

Advanced PC skills (including MS Excel)

Strong understanding of inventory management and production planning.
