Overview
A well-established and growing mechanical contractor is seeking a Senior Mechanical Estimator to lead estimating efforts and support preconstruction activities across commercial, healthcare, industrial, and institutional projects.
This is a key role within the organization, focused on HVAC and sheet metal systems, working closely with leadership, vendors, and operations to develop accurate, competitive bids.
Responsibilities
- Review and interpret project drawings, specifications, and bid documents
- Prepare detailed labor and material takeoffs for HVAC systems, including:
- Ductwork / sheet metal
- Hydronic and process piping
- Develop accurate and competitive project estimates
- Solicit, review, and evaluate vendor and subcontractor pricing
- Participate in pre-bid meetings and site visits as needed
- Identify value engineering opportunities and cost-saving solutions
- Collaborate with operations to ensure smooth project handoff
- Support continuous improvement of estimating processes
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience estimating HVAC / mechanical construction projects
- Strong understanding of commercial HVAC systems and ductwork
- Proven ability to perform takeoffs and build estimates from start to finish
- Proficiency with estimating software such as Trimble AutoBid (or similar)
- Experience with Bluebeam, Microsoft Office, and Adobe
Preferred Experience
- Background in mechanical contracting or MEP construction
- Experience with large commercial, healthcare, or industrial projects
- Exposure to design-build or design-assist environments
- Familiarity with piping systems and broader mechanical scope
