Job Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and reliable Wrecker Operator to join our team and keep our operations running smoothly. In this role, you will be responsible for safely operating tow trucks and related equipment to recover, load, and transport vehicles efficiently. Your expertise in automotive diagnostics, mechanical knowledge, and safe driving will ensure quick response times and excellent customer service. Duties
- Operate flatbed/ Wheel lift tow trucks and wrecker equipment to recover disabled or wrecked vehicles from accident scenes, roadside emergencies, or impound lots
- Load and unload vehicles carefully using appropriate tools such as forklifts or manual handling techniques.
- Conduct basic automotive diagnostics to assess vehicle condition and determine the best recovery approach.
- Maintain clear communication with dispatch, customers, and emergency responders to coordinate vehicle recovery efforts.
- Ensure all safety protocols are followed during vehicle recovery, including conflict management with distressed drivers or bystanders.
- Perform routine inspections of towing equipment and perform minor mechanical repairs as needed to keep trucks in optimal condition.
- Complete detailed logs of all recoveries, loads, unloads, and vehicle conditions for record-keeping and reporting purposes
Qualifications
- Proven experience operating tow trucks, flatbeds, or similar heavy-duty recovery vehicles
- At least 3 years experience of operating a tow truck.
- TDLR license required.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record; commercial driving license (CDL) preferred but not required.
- Ability to load and unload vehicles safely using appropriate equipment such as forklifts or manual methods. Knowledge of proper straps and chains to be used on specific vehicles.
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to handle conflict situations professionally, communication with customer and dispatch.
