Position Summary
Living Lord Lutheran Church is a growing and dynamic congregation of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) committed to worship, discipleship, service, and community engagement. The Church Bookkeeper plays a vital role in supporting these ministries through effective teamwork and financial stewardship.
This position provides accurate management of financial records. This position is on-site.
This position reports to the Pastor for day-to-day administrative responsibilities and the Treasurer for financial responsibilities.
Essential Responsibilities
- Receive, record, and process weekly offerings, electronic giving, and other contributions in accordance with church financial procedures.
- Maintain accurate records of designated, restricted, and memorial fund contributions.
- Process accounts payable, including preparing checks, electronic payments, and approved reimbursements.
- Maintain organized and accurate financial files and records.
- Enter financial transactions into the church’s accounting system in a timely manner.
- Collect and organize monthly bank statements and supporting documentation for reconciliation.
- Monitor and maintain documentation for church credit card transactions.
- Provide financial reports and supporting information to the Treasurer as requested.
- Assist with budget tracking and recordkeeping.
- Coordinate payroll information with the church’s payroll service provider to ensure accurate and timely payroll processing.
- Assist with annual financial reviews, audits, and preparation of year-end giving statements.
General Responsibilities
- Maintain strict confidentiality regarding member, employee, and financial information.
- Accurately track hours worked.
- Perform other duties as assigned and mutually agreed upon.

- Demonstrated proficiency with computers and office technology.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Ability to learn new software systems and online platforms.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in church, nonprofit, or office administration.
- Experience with bookkeeping, accounts payable, accounts receivable, or financial recordkeeping.
- Proficiency with Google Workspace
- Ability to learn church management and financial software systems.
Hours and Schedule
This is a part-time position averaging 10 hours per week and is typically scheduled during regular church office hours.
Pay: $22.00 per hour
