Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Design Engineer to join our innovative engineering team. The Design Engineer is responsible for discrete design, analysis, manufacturing, and test tasks in support of one or more product lines. Engineers at ERG work with a high degree of ownership and visibility, collaborating directly with leadership, customers, and manufacturing, with clear paths for progression into senior technical and product leadership roles.
Duties/Responsibilities:
· Develop and innovate new products and systems. Enhance and support existing products.
· Support Sales/Business Development team with new customer inquiries from an engineering perspective, assisting with manufacturing and performance feasibility, cost analysis and requirements definition.
· Identify technical issues and risks and coordinate with team members for resolution.
· Plan and execute engineering tasks with minimal supervision while managing multiple concurrent projects and priorities.
· Perform structural/thermal simulations and analysis for customer and internal programs as needed.
· Generate 3D/2D drawings for products according to customer requirements.
· Review work order instructions for manufacturing products.
· Create Design Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (DFMEA), Requirements Traceability Verification Matrices (RTVM), design journals, and other design engineering records
· Conduct product testing, including mechanical, flow and thermal tests. Design and manufacture test support equipment as needed. Compile and analyze data and draft engineering test reports.
· Present analysis results, feasibility evaluations, recommendations, and project status updates to internal stakeholders and customers.
· Identify and source materials, parts, and services from new or existing vendors.
· Participate in Material Review Board (MRB) to disposition non-conforming material.
· Support root cause investigations and corrective actions related to manufacturing, quality, and customer issues.
· This position may include access to technology that is subject to U.S. export controls restrictions under the ITAR/EAR.

Required Skills/Abilities:
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrated experience in creating and reviewing 3D and 2D CAD (preferably SolidWorks) per ASME Y14.5, in support of the design and development of mechanical products.
- Working knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
- Working knowledge of various materials, manufacturing processes, and design for manufacturing (DFM) principles.
- Experience with one or more of the following simulation/analyses methods and tools: Finite Element Analysis (FEA), Heat Transfer Modeling, Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD).
- Skilled in promoting an atmosphere of teamwork and cooperation with peers and their respective functional groups.
- Ability to contribute to a culture of high customer responsiveness, open communication, concurrent engineering, and continuous improvement.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to summarize and translate key technical information.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
Preferred Skills/Abilities:
- Experience with laboratory and material properties testing, including selecting instrumentation, developing test plans, and processing test data.
- Experience in a manufacturing environment, supporting production and implementing engineering changes.
- Familiarity with lightweight materials/structures, heat exchangers, or mathematical morphology.
- Understanding of aerospace requirements (e.g. AS9100) and qualification/certification processes.
- Experience interacting directly with customers, suppliers, and cross-functional teams on technical projects.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related field required.
- 2-4 years minimum of relevant engineering experience in product development, manufacturing, aerospace, defense, industrial equipment, thermal management, advanced materials, or a related technical field preferred.
- This position may include access to technology that is subject to U.S. export controls restrictions under the ITAR/EAR.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be willing to wear all required PPE
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs. regularly and up to 75 lbs. infrequently
- Must be able to work standing for extended periods
- Able to work in a loud production environment

Pay: $105,000.00 - $120,000.00 per year
