Position Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and dependable General Handyman to perform a variety of maintenance, repair, and construction-related tasks for both commercial and residential clients. This position requires experience across multiple trades, with a strong emphasis on plumbing, HVAC, and electrical work.
The Handyman serves as a direct representative of Thoreau in the field, providing quality workmanship while delivering a positive customer experience. This role works closely with supervisors and team members to ensure projects and service requests are completed efficiently and professionally.
Key Responsibilities
Field Service & Repairs
Perform a wide variety of maintenance, repair, and installation services for commercial and residential clients.
Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to plumbing, HVAC, electrical, and general building maintenance.
Complete assigned jobs independently with minimal supervision.
Maintain quality workmanship while meeting project timelines and client expectations.
Customer Service
Provide professional and courteous service during all client interactions.
Communicate clearly with clients regarding repairs, recommendations, and project status.
Represent the company in a positive and professional manner within the community.
Build client confidence through reliability, responsiveness, and follow-through.
Team Collaboration
Work closely with supervisors to prioritize and organize daily assignments.
Communicate effectively with technicians, vendors, and corporate clients.
Assist team members as needed to support service delivery and project completion.
Perform additional duties as assigned to support business operations.
Other Responsibilities
Participate in on-call coverage and after-hours work as needed.
Travel to job sites as required.
Maintain attendance and punctuality in accordance with company standards.
Follow all company safety policies and procedures.

Experience in multiple trades, with strong knowledge of plumbing, HVAC, and electrical systems.
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
Excellent customer service and communication abilities.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English fluently.
Valid driver's license required.
Construction or related trade experience preferred.
Willingness to travel up to 25% as needed.
Ability to work evenings and weekends as needed.
