Job Summary:
Day Habilitation Direct Support Professionals are responsible for providing hands on support and resources to persons with Intellectual Developmental Disabilities and Autism in a Day Hab setting and the community. Your role will involve assisting clients in developing skills, the ability to support people with Autism and people who may display challenging behaviors, and promoting overall well-being. - This shift is 40 hours per week (Mon-Fri 7:30a-3:30p)
- The pay rate range for this position is $20.00 - $22.57 per hour depending on years of prior experience with NYS OPWDD programs
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent preferred
- Prior experience assisting persons with Intellectual/Developmental Disabilities and/or Autism
- Ability to safely drive an Agency van for a majority of the day
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills with the ability to document services electronically
- Ability to work independently
- Experience in a behavioral setting
- Valid Driver’s License required
Key Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Provide ongoing oversight to people attending the Day Habilitation Program
- Implement the Day Habilitation plan for each person following stated safeguards
- Provide training and support for each person in accordance with the individual personalized program plan
- Implement behavioral support plans as written and to ensure associated data collection
- Train in and demonstrate competency of CPR, SCIP, Person-Centered Planning and Defensive Driving
- Drive agency vehicles and demonstrate safe driving practices
- Travel train program participants via public transportation
- Establish and maintain a rapport with community supports
- Flexibility to work at varied Day Habilitation sites located in Queens, Nassau and Suffolk Counties if needed
