Job Overview
We are seeking a motivated and safety-conscious CDL Class B Hook Lift Truck Driver to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will operate specialized trucks designed for efficient waste collection, recycling, and municipal solid waste management. Your primary responsibility will be to safely and efficiently transport materials using hook lift systems, ensuring compliance with all traffic laws and safety regulations. Responsibilities
- Operate CDL Class B hook lift trucks and other commercial trucks such as front loader, rear loader, dump trucks, roll-off trucks, and flatbeds for waste collection and transportation.
- Load, unload, and secure materials using equipment like front-end loaders or roll-off mechanisms, ensuring proper handling of hazardous materials regulations when applicable.
- Follow designated routes while adhering to DOT (Department of Transportation) regulations, state transportation laws, and traffic laws to ensure safe delivery schedules.
- Conduct routine vehicle inspections, including checking air brakes and mechanical systems, to maintain optimal safety and performance standards.
- Assist with heavy lifting tasks and manual loading/unloading operations as needed in compliance with safety protocols.
- Maintain accurate logs of deliveries, pickups, route activities, and incident reports in accordance with company policies.
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers and team members to coordinate route changes or address operational issues promptly.
Skills
- Proven experience driving commercial trucks such as dump trucks, tractor-trailers, roll-off trucks, or flatbeds with manual transmissions.
- Solid knowledge of heavy equipment operation including front loaders and rear loaders used in waste management processes.
- Strong understanding of traffic laws, hazard communication regulations, hazardous materials regulations (if applicable), and safety protocols.
- Excellent customer service skills to interact professionally with clients during pickups or drop-offs.
- Mechanical aptitude for troubleshooting basic vehicle issues and performing routine maintenance checks.
- Outdoor work experience with the ability to perform physically demanding tasks like heavy lifting in various weather conditions.
- Familiarity with DOT (Department of Transportation) regulations and state transportation laws governing commercial vehicle operation.
