Description:

Position Purpose:
Under the direction of the nurse manager with moderate supervision, the anesthesia tech will maintain and stock supplies in the anesthesia carts and machines, as well as ensure supplies are not outdated nor depleted at all times. They will ensure the anesthesia machines and equipment are sanitized and equipment components functions. The colleague originates and processes orders to the Store Room, Purchasing and Pharmacy for supplies and drugs.. He/she maintains supply inventory for daily use in the three department work rooms. The colleague will clean and sterilize equipment, clean and stock specific anesthesia carts and clean work rooms and store rooms. He/she will process equipment for repair and follow up on the status of the equipment repair, and report missing equipment to supervisor. Partial access to medications is given to the incumbent of this position because they are required by their job responsibilities to transport or stock medications to approved medication storage locations .Position may require working at either campus or alternate site.
What you will do:
- Maintains the department supply rooms to ensure that the professional staff have access to essential medical supplies and equipment readily available to them at all times.
- Cleans and sanitizes all non-disposable supplies and equipment to prevent cross contamination.
- Keeps all of the supply rooms clean and dust free to prevent dust and contamination from entering the operating rooms
- Maintains files related to equipment and supplies to expedite repairs and down time.
- Contributes to efficient operation of the department and promotes a positive image of Saint Francis Hospital.
Working Conditions:
- Be able to lift 50 lbs, stoop and bend, lift items from overhead shelves and work at a moderately fast pace. Position requires ability to perform simple manipulative, arm-hand steadiness and hand-eye coordination.
- Be able to walk and stand for prolonged periods of time; see objects closely and hear normal sounds with some background noises.
- Employee will be exposed to caustic cleaning agents and medically contaminated equipment. Employee may be frequently exposed to body tissues or fluids; dust; and other hazardous materials such as chemicals. Working hours will rotate based on the needs of the department.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Education: High school graduate. Successful completion of department orientation and complete modules on scope reprocessing.
- Experience: Must be able to read and communicate effectively. Possess basic computer skills.
- Certification: Must maintain clinical competency required for area of assignment, including yearly scope cleaning competency.
- Job Skills: Employee must be able to read, write and communicate in English. Must be able to relate well to others and be a team player. Be able to organize tasks and stay on schedule even though frequently interrupted. Good memory for detail. Be able to plan and organize work. Communicate effectively.
