Part-Time / Variable Schedule / Flex Assignment Program
Federal Protection Agency, Inc. is seeking dependable, professional, and adaptable individuals to join our Flex Security Officer Program.
The Flex Officer Program is designed for qualified security professionals who can support multiple client locations, varying shifts, special events, emergency coverage needs, temporary staffing shortages, vacations, call-offs, and new account startups throughout Illinois and Indiana.
This is a flexible, variable-hour security position. Flex Officers are not assigned to one permanent post or guaranteed a fixed weekly schedule. Instead, Flex Officers are offered assignments based on operational needs, client coverage requirements, officer availability, qualifications, location, and performance.
Flex Officers are expected to work a minimum of 8 hours per (2 Week) pay period in order to maintain active employment with Federal Protection Agency, Inc. However, available hours are not guaranteed and may vary from pay period to pay period based on business needs.
This position is ideal for individuals who want supplemental income, flexible scheduling, exposure to different security environments, and the opportunity to prove themselves for future full-time or permanent post assignments.
Federal Protection Agency, Inc. uses the Flex Officer Program as one of our primary pipelines for filling future full-time and permanent site openings. Reliable Flex Officers who demonstrate strong attendance, professionalism, communication, adaptability, and performance may receive priority consideration when full-time positions become available.
A Flex Security Officer is a trained and qualified security professional who may be assigned to different client locations, shifts, or temporary coverage needs based on operational demand.
Flex Officers may support:
- Emergency vacancies
- Employee call-offs
- Client-requested coverage
- Special events
- Vacations and leaves of absence
- Temporary staffing shortages
- New account startups
- Multiple client locations throughout Illinois and Indiana
Flex Officers must be comfortable with changing assignments, varying schedules, and different post expectations. This role requires flexibility, reliability, communication, and professionalism.

This is a flex position, meaning:
- Hours may vary by week and by pay period.
- A fixed schedule is not guaranteed.
- A specific number of weekly hours is not guaranteed.
- Assignments may be offered based on operational need, location, availability, qualifications, and performance.
- Flex Officers may be contacted for short-notice assignments.
- Flex Officers must respond promptly to scheduling and assignment requests.
- Flex Officers must work at least 8 hours per pay period to remain actively employed.
- Consistently declining assignments within stated availability may affect continued participation in the Flex Officer Program.
- Strong performance may lead to consideration for full-time or permanent post opportunities.
This position is best suited for candidates who are dependable, adaptable, and willing to support different sites and schedules as needed.

Current recommended Flex Officer rates:
Illinois Assignments: $20.00 to $25.00 per hour
Indiana Assignments: $18.00 to $23.00 per hour
Additional incentives may be available for certain assignments, including emergency coverage, critical staffing shortages, special projects, new account startups, or client-specific needs.
Any compensation adjustment or incentive will be communicated in writing before the assignment when applicable.
This is a flexible, variable-hour position. Assignments are offered based on operational need and may include:
- Day shifts
- Evening shifts
- Overnight shifts
- Weekend shifts
- Holiday coverage
- Special event assignments
- Temporary post coverage
- Emergency coverage
- New site/startup assignments
Flex Officers are expected to maintain accurate availability and current contact information. FPA will make reasonable efforts to offer assignments within an officer’s stated availability, but hours are not guaranteed.
To maintain active employment, Flex Officers must work a minimum of 8 hours per (2 Week) pay period, unless otherwise approved by Operations Management.
Flex Security Officers are responsible for:
- Reporting to assigned locations on time and ready for duty
- Arriving in proper uniform and equipped for the assignment
- Reviewing post orders before assuming duty
- Following all company and client policies
- Maintaining professional appearance, conduct, and communication
- Providing excellent customer service
- Observing and reporting safety or security concerns
- Completing reports accurately and on time
- Communicating assignment concerns immediately
- Following site-specific instructions and supervisor direction
- Maintaining confidentiality and professionalism
- Supporting operational continuity across multiple client locations
Applicants should meet the following requirements:
- Must be dependable, professional, and adaptable
- Must have reliable transportation
- Must maintain a functional cell phone with call, text, and data capabilities
- Must maintain current and accurate contact information
- Must be able to work varying shifts and schedules
- Must be capable of reporting to multiple client locations
- Must be willing to work at least 8 hours per pay period
- Must understand that hours are not guaranteed
- Must possess or be able to obtain required state licenses, certifications, or credentials for assigned posts
- Must be able to successfully complete required site training
- Must demonstrate strong communication skills
- Must demonstrate excellent customer service skills
- Must maintain acceptable attendance standards
- Must be able to follow written and verbal instructions
- Must demonstrate sound judgment, integrity, and accountability
Prior security, military, law enforcement, corrections, public safety, customer service, logistics, warehouse, gatehouse, access control, patrol, or event security experience is preferred.
