SUMMARY:
The HR Generalist is responsible for providing well-rounded, hands-on Human Resources support for the site. This role serves as a key HR partner to employees, supervisors, and managers by supporting employee relations, onboarding, FMLA and leave administration, terminations, benefits, timekeeping, UKG and Oracle HRIS/workflow transactions, HR training, and site-level HR projects. The HR Generalist is expected to be flexible, proactive, and knowledgeable across multiple HR functions in order to support daily HR operations, provide coverage for the HR Coordinator or other HR Generalist when needed, and assist the HR Manager with departmental priorities, compliance needs, system-related needs, and special projects. This position requires strong judgment, confidentiality, accuracy, and the ability to balance employee support with business needs in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:30am-5:30pm (additional hours as needed)
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Diploma required; bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred
- 4+ years of progressive Human Resources experience required; manufacturing or multi-shift environment experience required
- Generalist-level HR experience across multiple functional areas, including employee relations, onboarding, HRIS, benefits, leave administration, timekeeping, terminations, and HR projects
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) required
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel; strong Excel skills preferred for tracking, reporting, and data review
- Experience using HRIS and workflow systems, including UKG and Oracle, to process employee changes, timekeeping updates, onboarding, reporting, documentation, and related HR transactions
- Working knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws and HR best practices, including ADA, FMLA, FLSA, and related leave/accommodation requirements
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive employee relations, medical, payroll, and personnel information appropriately
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, problem-solving, follow-up, and organizational skills
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy when completing documentation, system updates, timekeeping review, and employee record maintenance
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, shift needs, employee concerns, and project timelines in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to respond calmly, professionally, and consistently to employee concerns, escalations, and sensitive HR matters
- Willingness and flexibility to work extended hours or adjusted schedules when necessary to support site and departmental needs
- Willingness to travel as needed
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Serve as a well-rounded HR resource for the site, supporting employees, supervisors, and managers across daily HR operations
- Partner with supervisors and management to ensure fair, consistent, and policy-compliant application of HR procedures and employment practices
- Support employee relations matters by gathering information, documenting concerns, assisting with investigations, and escalating complex matters to HR leadership as appropriate
- Provide guidance and documentation support for coaching, corrective action, performance improvement, and other employee relations processes
- Assist with voluntary and involuntary termination processes, including documentation review, system updates, exit coordination, unemployment claim support, and follow-up with Payroll or management as needed
- Coordinate and support onboarding activities, including new hire orientation, benefits overview, HR system training, required documentation, and follow-up to ensure a positive new hire experience
- Support FMLA, leave of absence, accommodation, and related tracking processes while maintaining confidentiality and appropriate documentation
- Provide benefits support by answering general employee questions, assisting with benefits orientation, supporting Open Enrollment activities, and coordinating with Corporate Benefits when needed
- Support timekeeping processes by assisting employees and managers with timekeeping questions, reviewing discrepancies, following up on corrections, and coordinating with Payroll as needed
- Maintain accurate employee data in UKG, Oracle, and related HR systems, including new hires, transfers, supervisor changes, terminations, department updates, and other employee record changes
- Assist with UKG and Oracle data entry, reporting, system training, and process improvements to support accurate and efficient HR operations
- Develop, coordinate, and support HR training for employees and managers, including policy training, system training, onboarding topics, and other site HR training needs
- Support recruiting and temporary employee conversion processes as needed, including coordination with managers, staffing agencies, candidates, and internal HR stakeholders
- Compile, track, and maintain HR data, reports, spreadsheets, and documentation related to attendance, employee relations, onboarding, training, benefits, leave, and HR projects
- Support employee engagement, recognition programs, communication efforts, and other site initiatives that promote a positive and professional workplace
- Provide coverage for the HR Coordinator or other HR Generalist responsibilities when needed to maintain consistent HR service and department continuity
- Assist the HR Manager with departmental priorities, confidential assignments, compliance follow-up, HR projects, and other site business needs as assigned
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws, company policies, and applicable HR recordkeeping requirements
- Perform other duties as assigned to support the HR department and site operations
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Primarily office-based work with occasional visits to manufacturing areas (PPE required)
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally
- Must be able to sit for extended periods
- Occasional walking, climbing stairs, stooping, kneeling, or crouching
- Use of hands and arms to reach for and handle objects
