Responsibilities
- Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments, setting up dental tools, and ensuring all equipment is functioning properly to maintain optimal infection control standards.
- Assist dentists chairside during a variety of procedures including general dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry, ensuring patient comfort and safety.
- Take and develop dental X-rays using digital imaging technology such as 3D scanners, ensuring accurate medical documentation and records.
- Manage patient flow by greeting patients, updating medical histories, taking vital signs, and explaining procedures clearly to foster a positive experience.
- Maintain accurate medical records using Dentrix while adhering to HIPAA regulations to protect patient confidentiality.
- Support infection control protocols through aseptic technique and proper handling of dental materials and instruments.
- Assist with administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments with the dental receptionist and managing medical coding for billing purposes.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Dental Assistant or in a similar dental clinic setting with knowledge of dental terminology and anatomy.
- Proficiency with dental software systems including Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or Epic for managing medical records and documentation.
- Familiarity with infection control practices, aseptic techniques, and sterilization procedures to ensure patient safety.
- Ability to perform X-ray procedures accurately while maintaining radiation safety standards.
- Strong understanding of dentistry principles and experience working with patients is preferred.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, medical coding, and electronic health record (EHR) systems to support comprehensive patient care.
