Role Description
This is a full-time on-site role for a High School English Language Arts Teacher at South Bronx Charter School for International Cultures & the Arts, The ELA Teacher will be responsible for designing and delivering engaging lesson plans aligned with curriculum guidelines, fostering student growth in reading, writing, and critical thinking. Additional responsibilities include assessing student progress, providing constructive feedback, and creating an inclusive and supportive classroom environment. Collaborating with other educators, participating in professional development, and contributing to the school’s mission of promoting multilingual and multicultural education are also essential aspects of the role.
Qualifications
- Proficiency in teaching English Language Arts, including grammar, literature, and composition.
- Ability to design and implement effective lesson plans and curriculum aligned with standards.
- Strong classroom management and communication skills to maintain a positive learning environment.
- Commitment to fostering cultural understanding, diversity, and inclusivity in the classroom.
- Experience with assessing student performance and providing differentiated instruction.
- Proficiency in integrating technology into lesson delivery and student engagement.
- Proven organizational and time-management skills to manage a variety of teaching and administrative tasks.
- Bachelor's degree in English, Education, or a related field; NYS teaching certification.
- Bi-lingual Spanish a plus
- Previous teaching experience in a high school setting is highly desirable.
Pay: $65,000.00 - $110,000.00 per year
