Job Summary
The Director of Financial Aid is a key leadership role responsible for overseeing the financial operation of their department. This position requires a strategic thinker with a strong background in financial analysis, budgeting, and reporting. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with various departments. The Director of Financial Aid will play a crucial role in ensuring the financial health of the organization while providing guidance on financial policies and procedures.
Responsibilities
1. Oversee the administration of financial aid programs on campus.
2. Supervise a team of financial aid advisors.
3. Provide guidance to students and parents regarding available financial aid options, application procedures, requirements, and eligibility criteria by conducting financial overviews, student interviews and analyzing student official documentation.
4. Evaluate student need; analyze and verify student eligibility for financial aid programs; monitor student academic progress for continued aid eligibility; prepare and process awards to eligible students; review student appeals and/or special circumstances.
5. Manage and evaluate the disbursement of financial aid funds in compliance with regulations.
6. Work closely with registrar/bursar and accounting departments to ensure compliance in terms of cash management when disbursing Title IV funds.
7. Stay updated on federal and state financial aid policies.
8. Ensure accurate record keeping and reporting for compliance purposes.
9. Understand and adhere to all school policies outlined in the Standard Policies and Procedures Manual and the School Catalog.
10. Conduct internal reviews to ensure complete compliance of all state and federal rules and regulations.
11. Implements best practices that support the goal of enrollment growth and quality of services.
12. Other tasks or projects as assigned by the Campus President.
Managing Team Performance:
The Director of Financial Aid is responsible for managing the performance of the Financial Aid Administrators and staff. To accomplish this, the Director of Financial Aid must:
1. Monitor student overview discussions/interviews and provide constructive feedback
2. Monitor effective use of C2K Campus View system
3. Ensure Financial Aid Administrators know/are up-to-date on financial offerings
4. Provide coaching and training programs for staff development
5. Conduct weekly staff meetings
Qualifications
- An associate’s degree
- 5 years of finance experience
- Proven experience in financial services or education administration is highly desirable.
- Strong mathematical skills with the ability to analyze complex data sets effectively.
