Job Summary
Precision Construction is seeking an experienced and dependable Working Construction Superintendent to oversee daily field operations for Luxury Multi-unit residential construction projects throughout North Jersey.
The qualified candidate must have at least 3 years of on-site superintendent experience, including experience managing high-end custom home construction from the ground up. Candidates must also be familiar with North Jersey building codes, municipal requirements, inspections, and local construction practices.
This is primarily a field-supervision position with occasional light carpentry, punch-list work, and other minor hands-on responsibilities.
Primary Responsibilities
- Manage daily jobsite operations and direct field workers and subcontractors.
- Oversee high-end residential projects from site preparation and foundation through final finishes and closeout.
- Coordinate short-term schedules and properly sequence incoming trades.
- Monitor project progress and keep construction activities on schedule.
- Coordinate municipal inspections and ensure work complies with North Jersey building codes and local requirements.
- Enforce OSHA requirements and company jobsite safety standards.
- Inspect completed work for quality and compliance with plans, specifications, building codes, and luxury construction standards.
- Read and understand architectural plans, structural drawings, specifications, and finish schedules.
- Serve as the primary field contact for subcontractors, inspectors, vendors, and project managers.
- Coordinate deliveries, materials, inspections, and jobsite access.
- Identify field conflicts and communicate potential delays, changes, or construction issues to the project manager.
- Maintain a clean, organized, safe, and professional jobsite.
- Complete daily reports and document project progress.
- Manage punch-list items and prepare projects for final inspections and turnover.
- Perform light carpentry and minor hands-on work when needed.
Required Qualifications
- At least 2–3 years of on-site experience as a construction superintendent.
- Proven experience building high-end custom homes from the ground up.
- Experience overseeing all major phases of new construction, including sitework, foundations, framing, mechanical systems, exterior work, interior finishes, and project closeout.
- Working knowledge of North Jersey building codes, municipal inspections, permitting requirements, and local construction practices.
- Ability to read and understand construction plans and specifications.
- Strong understanding of luxury finishes, quality-control standards, and proper installation practices.
- Knowledge of OSHA requirements and jobsite safety procedures.
- Strong leadership, scheduling, organization, and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to effectively manage workers, subcontractors, vendors, and deliveries.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to perform light carpentry, punch-list work, and minor hands-on tasks.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
- Ability to travel to jobsites throughout North Jersey.
- Professional, dependable, punctual, and detail-oriented.
Preferred Qualifications
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification.
- Experience coordinating inspections with North Jersey municipalities and local building officials.
- Experience working with architects, engineers, designers, and homeowners on luxury residential projects.
- Knowledge of construction scheduling and project-management software.
