We are seeking an experienced Commercial Electrical Project Manager to oversee commercial and industrial electrical construction projects from preconstruction through final closeout.
This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for managing project schedules, budgets, labor planning, procurement, field coordination, client communication, and overall project profitability. The Project Manager will work closely with owners, general contractors, engineers, architects, inspectors, superintendents, foremen, vendors, and suppliers to ensure projects are completed safely, on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
The ideal candidate has strong field experience, a valid Connecticut electrical license, and the ability to independently manage multiple projects in a fast-paced electrical contracting environment.
Responsibilities
- Manage multiple commercial and industrial electrical construction projects from award through completion.
- Lead project planning, preconstruction, scheduling, budgeting, procurement, execution, and closeout.
- Develop and maintain project schedules, labor forecasts, budgets, cost projections, and procurement plans.
- Coordinate field operations with superintendents, foremen, subcontractors, vendors, and suppliers.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, owners, general contractors, engineers, architects, and inspectors.
- Review electrical drawings, specifications, contracts, RFIs, submittals, and change orders.
- Monitor project costs, labor productivity, forecasts, billings, and overall profitability.
- Identify and address scheduling, budget, procurement, and field-related risks.
- Lead project meetings and communicate progress, milestones, financial updates, and potential challenges.
- Coordinate material purchasing, equipment deliveries, subcontractor schedules, and manpower requirements.
- Prepare, price, negotiate, and track change orders.
- Resolve field issues and support inspections, testing, commissioning, punch-list completion, and project turnover.
- Ensure work complies with applicable electrical codes, project specifications, safety requirements, and company quality standards.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, general contractors, and project partners.
Qualifications
- At least 5 years of project management experience in commercial or industrial electrical construction.
- Previous experience managing projects for an electrical contractor or electrical subcontractor.
- Valid Connecticut Electrical License required.
- Strong knowledge of commercial and industrial electrical systems, installation methods, materials, and construction practices.
- Proven experience managing projects from preconstruction through closeout.
- Experience with project budgeting, cost forecasting, labor planning, procurement, change orders, and financial reporting.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical plans, specifications, contracts, and construction documents.
- Proficiency with Procore, Bluebeam, Microsoft Project, or similar construction management software.
- Strong leadership, communication, negotiation, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and competing deadlines.
- Candidates available to begin within the next month are strongly preferred.
