Job Summary
The Village of Poynette is seeking applicants for the Parks and Recreation Director position. The Director oversees the planning, development, and maintenance of public parks, facilities, recreational programs, natural areas, public properties, and capital park and recreation projects throughout the Village. This position works closely with internal departments, the Parks and Recreation Commission, external partners/vendors, instructors, and program staff to help drive participation, support revenue goals, and ensure programs are organized, promoted, and delivered successfully.
Duties
- Develop and implement innovative recreation programs and events that appeal to a broad audience
- Manage daily operations of the recreation facilities, ensuring safety, cleanliness, and optimal functionality
- Oversee budget planning, financial management, and resource allocation to maximize operational efficiency while maintaining high-quality service standards
- Coordinate with vendors, event organizers, and internal departments to ensure seamless event execution at various venues
- Enforce safety protocols
- Maintain excellent service and foster a welcoming environment
Requirements
- Education: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in parks and recreation, park management, recreation management, sports administration, leisure studies, public administration, marketing, communications, or other closely related field, required (an Associate’s Degree with five years of experience may be considered in lieu of a BA).
- Experience: Three years of experience in park and recreation programing, coordinating events, facility rentals, public communications, engagement activities, and volunteer coordination, required. Five years, preferred.
- Certifications/Licenses: Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record for eligibility of Village’s coverage, required. CPRP certification, preferred.
Pay: $64,000.00 - $74,000.00 per year
