NewSongs School of Music is a growing, multi-campus music school in the Elk Grove and Sacramento areas serving hundreds of students of all ages. We're not your average music school. We're building a genuine community around music education, and we believe every student has something worth expressing. Our culture is creative, collaborative, and a little bit fun.
The offsite department works in elementary schools around the Elk Grove and Sacramento area, bringing music education to classrooms directly. We typically teach K-6, though some TK/PK and middle school classes may be involved, as well as after school programs. Curriculum and training will be provided.
What you'll do
- Give 30-40 minute lessons in classrooms following our curriculum
- Give instruction using instruments provided by NewSongs
- Contribute to a positive, encouraging campus environment where students look forward to lessons
- Sing, play, and engage with students of all ages
- Participate in recitals and school events that celebrate student progress (where applicable)

Optional: teachers are also considered for cross-department opportunities, such as private lessons in studio, our group piano class for elementary students (curriculum provided), our group piano class for kinder students (curriculum provided), our one to one preschool music program (curriculum provided), and one to one adaptive lessons with special needs students. These are not required, but the right candidate can work additional hours and gain experience in a variety of roles if desired.
Who you are
- Experienced teacher preferred you've taught music lessons or other educational roles and know how to keep students engaged and making progress. New graduates with strong musicianship and a desire to grow are welcome to apply.
- Solid instrumental/vocal proficiency and a working knowledge of music theory basics
- Genuinely patient and warm, you meet classrooms where they are, not where you wish they were
- A clear communicator with students and teachers alike (we will be guests in their classrooms)
- A role model and guide in students every day lives
- Someone with classroom or performance background- you will be standing in front of 20-30 kids at a time, 3-8 classes a day.
