Position Summary
The Overnight Direct Support Professional (DSP) provides direct care, supervision, safety monitoring, and support to adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities living in a residential group home setting. The DSP remains awake and alert throughout the entire shift and is responsible for ensuring the health, safety, dignity, and well-being of all residents during overnight hours.
Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesResident Support
- Conduct routine safety and wellness checks throughout the night.
- Assist residents with toileting, repositioning, hydration, and other needs as required.
- Provide behavioral support using approved person-centered strategies.
- Respond appropriately to medical, behavioral, or emergency situations.
- Maintain resident dignity, privacy, and confidentiality at all times.
Safety and Supervision
- Remain awake and actively supervising throughout the entire shift.
- Monitor residents for signs of illness, injury, distress, wandering, or unsafe behaviors.
- Ensure all doors, windows, and safety systems are secure.
- Follow all emergency procedures including fire, medical, and evacuation protocols.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized environment.
Documentation
- Complete required progress notes and overnight documentation.
- Record incidents, unusual occurrences, and resident concerns accurately and promptly.
- Document medication observations and report concerns to supervisory staff.
- Provide detailed shift-to-shift communication.
Household Responsibilities
- Complete assigned cleaning and sanitation tasks.
- Prepare for morning routines as directed.
- Maintain adequate supplies and report shortages.
- Assist with laundry and housekeeping duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED preferred.
- Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record preferred.
- Ability to pass criminal background checks and other required screenings.
- Ability to obtain and maintain required training including CPR/First Aid and DBHDS-required training.
- Experience working with individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities preferred.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, lift, push, and pull during the shift.
- Ability to assist residents with mobility and personal care needs.
- Ability to respond quickly during emergencies.

- Arrive on time and maintain dependable attendance.
- Remain awake, alert, and engaged throughout the shift.
- Follow all DBHDS regulations, agency policies, and resident support plans.
- Treat residents, families, coworkers, and community members with professionalism and respect.
Pay: $14.00 - $16.00 per hour
