Primary Duties
Responsible for planning and implementing tasks related to the support services for the Board of Elections per standards set by the Ohio Secretary of State and the schedule defined in the Belmont County Board of Elections calendar.
- Public Interaction/Questions & Public record requests (via phone, in-person, email and fax)
- Assist with maintenance of the voter registration database
- Provides customer service and problem resolution to voters and the public, registration issues, directs unresolved complaints and concerns to Director/Deputy Director
- Process petitions - pulling, filing and signature verification
- Precinct Election Officials recruitment, assistance with classes, scheduling and communication as needed
- Assist with in-person early voting
- Provide Election Day support and Election Night support
- Assist with Official Election Results – provisional processing, voter history accounting and report preparations
- Assist with the election canvass, reconciliation, and post-election activities
- Assists with and executes the delivery of election equipment
- Maintains the organization of the warehouse, including polling location supplies
- Ability to work extended office hours as mandated or to meet deadlines
- Assist election facilitator with daily tasks, as needed
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Director/Deputy Director
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
The successful candidate must enjoy working with the public in-person, on the phone and during early voting; and have the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment. The candidate will maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, the public, and contractors. They must assist any person, without regard to that person’s political affiliation, who asks the board office for information that is within the scope of the board’s jurisdiction.
Schedule: 40 hours per week. Monday – Friday, 8:30 am – 4:30 pm, plus increased hours during the election cycle, including some required Saturdays and Sundays.
Qualifications: Must be a registered elector in the state of Ohio with party affiliation. Must have a high school diploma or a GED. College level education is preferred. Microsoft Office and computer experience mandatory. Preference may be given to applicants with knowledge and experience in elections.
