The Village Childcare is a small, nurturing in-home childcare program located in the Church Hill neighborhood of Richmond. Our program focuses on creating a calm, engaging environment where children learn through play, exploration, and hands-on activities
Position Overview
The Childcare Assistant supports the lead provider in maintaining a safe, organized, and engaging environment for young children. This role includes helping with daily routines, supervising play, assisting with meals, and supporting learning activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with supervision of children during play and daily activities
- Support meal and snack preparation and cleanup
- Help maintain a clean and organized classroom environment
- Assist with outdoor play and transitions throughout the day
- Support age-appropriate activities such as sensory play, reading, art, and movement
- Provide nurturing care and positive interactions with children
- Follow safety and childcare regulations
Schedule
Part-time hours, approximately 10-20 hours weekly
(hours may vary depending on enrollment and program needs).
Compensation
$15 per hour
Qualifications
- Interest in working with young children
- Reliable and punctual
- Patient, caring, and positive attitude
- Ability to follow safety procedures
- Previous childcare experience preferred but not required
Requirements
- Must pass a background check in accordance with Virginia childcare regulations
- CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire)
- Must be at least 18 years old
Ability to provide references if requested
Pay: $15.00 per hour
