1 PRN Dietary Aide with the possibility to become part time or full time
Elk River Health & Nursing Center of Fayetteville is a long-term care facility (nursing home) located in Fayetteville, Tennessee. We are seeking a part time dietary aide to join our Dietary Department.
Shifts are rotating days and shifts will be either 5:00 a.m.- 1:30 p.m. or 11:00 a. m. - 7:30 p. m.
Dietary Aide duties:
Assist in food preparation and serving; maintain clean and sanitary conditions in the kitchen and dining areas under the supervision of the Dietary Manager or Cook.
Essential Job Functions
- Prepare and cook resident meals in quantities according to menu and number of persons served.
- Prepare meals according to proper methods and cooking temperatures for best utilization and yield of meats and other foods.
- Clean work area and equipment in accordance with sanitation requirements to include dishware used by our residents.
- Taste, smell, and observe all foods prepared to confirm with recipes, and good taste and appetizing appearance.
- Serve food according to dietary guidelines, checking each tray for completeness and accuracy.
- Monitor portion control guidelines for individual residents to prevent food waste.
- Prepare and serve food and meals in accordance with planned menus, diet plans, recipes, portion, and temperature control procedures and facility policies.
- Inspect special diet trays to assure that the correct diet is served to the resident.
- Attend in-service education programs in order to meet facility educational requirements.
- Be familiar with Standard Precautions, Exposure Control Plan, Fire Drill & Evacuation Procedures and know how to use the information.
Minimum Qualifications
- Experience in preparing foods in large quantities.
- Must be able to read, comprehend, write, and follow instructions.
- Must be able to count quickly and accurately.
- Must be okay with handling food, handling and cleaning dirty dishes, and cleaning assigned areas up to the facility's standards.
- Must be able to bend, stoop, and lift 50 pounds on a regular basis.
- Organized and detailed in work performance.
- Good communication skills with excellent self-discipline and patience.
- Comply with the Residents' Rights and Facility Policies and Procedures.
- Perform work tasks within the physical demand requirements as outlined below.
Working Conditions
- Fast paced, required to make decisions quickly
- Involved with residents, personnel, visitors, government agencies/personnel, etc., under all conditions and circumstances.
- May work beyond normal duty hours, on weekends, and in other positions temporarily, when necessary.
- Must be okay with working in humid environment.
- Subject to call-back during emergency conditions (e.g., severe weather, evacuation, post-disaster, etc.).
- Subject to exposure to infectious waste, diseases, conditions, etc., including COVID-19, TB and the AIDS and Hepatitis B viruses.
- May be subject to the handling of and exposure to hazardous chemicals
Applicants who are selected for this position will be subject to a background investigation and drug screening.
Pay: $12.00 - $14.00 per hour
