American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a PCU/Oncology Float Pool position requiring 2 years of PCU experience, Chemo certification, and an active CA RN license.

Float pool position covering up to four hospital campuses across the San Diego area — travelers must be comfortable rotating between all assigned locations
-
Unit covers PCU/IMU float across general medicine, surgical, neuro, oncology, cardiac, and orthopedic patient populations
-
Patient ratios: IMU 1:3, Telemetry 1:4, Med/Surg 1:5
-
May float down to Med/Surg when census permits, and may also float to the Emergency Department Inpatient Overflow (EDIP)

Day shift, 3x12-hour shifts (7:00–19:00)
-
4-week schedules are provided two weeks in advance — no blocked or self-scheduling
-
RNs receive a call 2 hours before their shift indicating which facility they will work that day

EMR: Epic and Pyxis (Cerner experience also preferred)

Active CA RN license required
-
Minimum 2 years of PCU experience required

Chemotherapy (Chemo) certification required

Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)

Experience required: IV starts, telemetry monitoring, phlebotomy, and arterial line (A-line) management

Must pass a EKG exam (pass/fail, up to 3 attempts)

At least one supervisory, director, or manager reference from within the past year, from a relevant unit, is required for consideration

A second professional reference from within the past 2 years (charge nurse, co-worker, or educator) is also required

Candidates who have previously worked at this health system must be approved before an assignment can begin

No RTO (time off requests) permitted within the first 2 weeks of the assignment; RTO requests must be submitted at the time of initial consideration and cannot be changed once submitted

Former employees must have been separated for at least 1 year before returning as a traveler
