Position: Motor Equipment Operator
Grade / Step: Grade 5, Step 1

Description:
Under the Supervision of the Superintendent of Highways and Deputy Superintendent of Highways, the Motor Equipment Operator will be responsible for:
· Hauling material for road construction and repair;
· Operating snowplows or related snow removal equipment;
· Operating bulldozers, graders, power shovel or other heavy automotive equipment on assignment;
· Services assigned vehicle and maintains it in clean condition;
· Performing minor mechanical repairs on automotive equipment;
· Transporting workmen, tools and other equipment;
· Performs a variety of simple manual tasks, such as cleaning culverts, shoveling snow, loading and unloading trucks, and road maintenance work.
Desired Competencies:
Good knowledge of the operation of trucks, tractors, and other types of automotive equipment; ability to understand and carry out simple oral and written instructions; mechanical aptitude; industry and dependability; good physical condition.
Minimum Qualifications:
One year of experience in the operation of some type of construction or automotive equipment.
A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL)
Special Requirement:
Candidate must possess and maintain a New York State Driver’s License appropriate for the type of vehicle to be operated.
Schedule: Full Time / 40 hours per week. Monday to Thursday from 6:00AM to 4:30PM or
Compensation: $25.70 per hour.
