Duties
- Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support using manual handling equipment like Hoyer lifts.
- Monitor patient health by taking vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, and respiration; observe for signs of distress or changes in condition.
- Support medication administration according to care plans while adhering to HIPAA regulations to ensure confidentiality and privacy.
- Prepare nutritious meals aligned with dietary needs and assist with meal consumption to promote proper nutrition.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment by performing regular cleaning tasks in residents’ living areas and common spaces.
- Document care activities accurately in resident records, including progress notes, incident reports, and updates to individualized care plans.
- Engage in patient observation to identify behavioral or health concerns early and communicate findings promptly to the healthcare team.
Qualifications
- Prior experience working in group homes, assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or home health environments is highly preferred.
- Knowledge of patient care techniques such as CPR, first aid, and manual handling procedures.
- Experience supporting individuals with developmental disabilities, autism spectrum disorder, dementia (including Alzheimer’s and memory care), or neurodevelopmental disorders.
- Ability to work effectively with diverse populations including seniors and individuals requiring hospice or palliative care.
- Strong communication skills for working collaboratively with team members, residents, families, and healthcare professionals.
- Familiarity with HIPAA regulations and maintaining confidentiality of sensitive health information.
- Physical ability to perform heavy lifting and assist with mobility tasks safely.
