About the opportunity
We are launching a new boutique Reformer Pilates program inside an established yoga and wellness studio in downtown San Jose.
The studio is centrally located and has six brand-new reformers. We are looking for an experienced, engaging and dependable Lead Reformer Pilates Instructor to help establish a high-quality class experience for our members.
The instructor will initially teach beginner and all-level group Reformer classes. There will be an opportunity to teach additional classes as the studio grows.
Responsibilities
- Teach safe and engaging 50-minute group Reformer Pilates classes
- Provide clear verbal instruction, demonstrations and corrections
- Offer appropriate modifications for different experience and fitness levels
- Help new clients understand Reformer equipment and studio safety
- Create a welcoming and supportive environment for members
- Maintain consistent and professional class quality
- Arrive on time and prepare the studio before each class
- Reset the reformers and related equipment after each class
- Communicate customer feedback, safety concerns and equipment issues
- Maintain professional communication with studio management
- Help create a strong Pilates community within the studio
- Assist with class coverage when reasonably available
Qualifications
- Recognized Reformer Pilates certification required
- Comprehensive Pilates certification preferred
- Balanced Body, BASI, STOTT, Polestar, Club Pilates, Peak Pilates or comparable training welcomed
- National Pilates Certification preferred but not required
- At least one year of Pilates teaching experience preferred
- Previous group Reformer teaching experience strongly preferred
- Strong understanding of anatomy, alignment, modifications and contraindications
- Current CPR and AED certification preferred
- Professional, dependable and comfortable working with beginners
- Ability to manage a group class of up to six clients
- Morning, evening or weekend availability
- Ability to teach two or more consecutive classes preferred
Pay: $40.00 - $60.00 per hour
