We are looking for an experienced Water Mitigation Manager who can take ownership of our water mitigation operations—from the initial emergency call and inspection through drying, documentation, billing, and project completion.
This is a hands-on management position. The ideal candidate is comfortable managing technicians while also stepping into the field when needed.
Responsibilities
- Respond to and manage residential and commercial water-loss projects
- Perform initial inspections and determine water category, class, affected materials, and appropriate mitigation procedures
- Develop drying plans and determine appropriate quantities and placement of air movers, dehumidifiers, and air scrubbers
- Manage water extraction, controlled demolition, cleaning, antimicrobial application, and structural drying
- Take and document moisture readings, psychrometric readings, temperature, relative humidity, and GPP
- Establish drying standards and drying goals
- Monitor drying progress and make equipment adjustments as necessary
- Manage technicians and subcontractors in the field
- Ensure proper containment and work-area setup
- Identify potential mold, asbestos, lead, or other environmental concerns before disturbing suspect materials
- Coordinate with asbestos/environmental contractors when necessary
- Maintain complete job documentation, including photographs, moisture logs, equipment logs, customer authorizations, and completion documents
- Prepare job scopes and estimates
- Work with Xactimate for estimating and invoicing
- Communicate professionally with homeowners, property managers, plumbers, insurance adjusters, and other referral partners
- Review jobs for proper documentation before final invoicing
- Maintain equipment, vehicles, and mitigation supplies
- Ensure projects follow company procedures and applicable IICRC standards
- Assist with technician training and development
- Participate in an on-call/emergency response rotation
- Help develop ACER's water mitigation department as the company grows
Qualifications
Preferred candidates will have:
- 3+ years of water mitigation/restoration experience
- Previous experience as a Lead Technician, Project Manager, Mitigation Manager, or similar role
- Strong knowledge of water extraction and structural drying
- Understanding of Category 1, 2, and 3 water losses and Class 1–4 water intrusion
- Experience using moisture meters and psychrometers
- Experience with LGR dehumidifiers, air movers, HEPA air scrubbers, extraction equipment, and related restoration equipment
- Experience performing or supervising controlled demolition
- Strong job documentation skills
- Experience communicating with insurance adjusters and property owners
- Ability to manage multiple active projects
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
- Ability to lift and move restoration equipment and perform physical field work
Preferred Certifications
- IICRC Water Damage Restoration Technician (WRT)
- IICRC Applied Structural Drying (ASD)
- IICRC Applied Microbial Remediation Technician (AMRT)
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30
WRT certification is strongly preferred. Candidates with substantial water mitigation experience who are willing to obtain additional IICRC certifications may also be considered.
Xactimate Experience
Xactimate experience is strongly preferred.
The Water Mitigation Manager should be able to document a loss accurately, develop an appropriate scope of work, identify relevant mitigation line items, and assist with preparing estimates and final invoices.
What We're Looking For
We are looking for someone who treats each project as their responsibility from beginning to end.
You should be able to walk into a water loss, assess the situation, develop a mitigation plan, explain that plan to the customer, direct the crew, monitor the drying process, maintain proper documentation, and bring the project to completion.
Because ACER is growing, this position offers the opportunity to have a significant role in building our water mitigation operation rather than simply managing an established department.
Schedule
Full-time position with availability for emergency water-loss response.
Water damage does not always occur during normal business hours, so some evenings, weekends, and emergency calls should be expected.
Compensation
Competitive hourly or salary compensation based on experience and certifications.
Compensation can be structured based on the candidate's experience, ability to manage projects independently, Xactimate proficiency, certifications, and overall responsibilities.
