About the Position
365 Entertainment Group is seeking a hands-on, resourceful AV & Show Systems Technician to support our seasonal events and experiential productions throughout San Diego County.
This position is ideal for someone with a working knowledge of entertainment technology who enjoys building, programming, troubleshooting, and learning new systems. You will work alongside our production and design teams to turn creative concepts into reliable, guest-ready experiences.
The position will include pre-event fabrication and setup work, installation and testing, on-site show support during event dates, and ongoing maintenance and troubleshooting throughout each event’s operating period.
Responsibilities
- Assist with the installation, programming, operation, and troubleshooting of event lighting and audio systems
- Set up and program DMX lighting fixtures, controllers, and related equipment
- Assist with speakers, amplifiers, mixers, signal routing, and audio playback systems
- Install and maintain projectors, media players, displays, and show-content systems
- Work with Raspberry Pi devices and other small computers used for media playback, automation, sensors, and interactive effects
- Build and troubleshoot basic Arduino-based projects, controllers, triggers, and interactive elements
- Install, configure, and troubleshoot addressable LED pixels, pixel controllers, power supplies, data distribution, and related wiring
- Assist with basic lighting sequences and show programming in xLights when needed
- Install and troubleshoot conventional low-voltage LED lighting, controllers, wiring, power supplies, and connections
- Assist with minor truss, rigging, mounting, and equipment-support projects
- Work with the design and production teams to develop practical technical solutions for creative concepts
- Help fabricate, assemble, wire, solder, test, and install small scenic and technical projects
- Perform system checks before opening and provide technical support during event operating hours
- Monitor show lighting, audio, projection, media, pixels, and automated effects
- Quickly diagnose and repair technical problems during live event operations
- Maintain organized cabling, equipment, tools, documentation, and technical work areas
- Assist with event setup, system changes, preventative maintenance, and teardown as needed
- Follow company safety procedures and proper equipment-handling practices
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with DMX lighting systems and basic lighting programming
- Familiarity with professional or event audio equipment
- Basic experience with truss, mounting, and minor entertainment rigging
- Experience with projection, video playback, or digital signage systems
- Familiarity with Raspberry Pi, Arduino, sensors, relays, triggers, or similar electronics
- Experience with addressable LED pixels, pixel controllers, data protocols, and power injection
- Basic familiarity with xLights is a plus but is not required
- Experience working with conventional low-voltage LED lighting and wiring
- Minor networking or Wi-Fi experience is a plus
- Ability to solder, make reliable cable connections, and use a multimeter for basic electrical troubleshooting
- Ability to safely use common hand and power tools
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Ability to read equipment manuals, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation
- Comfortable working independently and collaborating with designers, fabricators, event staff, and production personnel
- Willingness to learn unfamiliar equipment, software, and production methods
Candidates do not need to be experts in every system listed. We are looking for someone with a strong technical foundation, good judgment, attention to detail, and a genuine willingness to learn.
Schedule and Location
- Part-time seasonal work from approximately August through December
- Work will take place primarily in Escondido and throughout the greater San Diego area
- The schedule will vary based on production and event needs
- Availability for some evenings, weekends, event dates, installations, and time-sensitive repairs is required
- Hours may increase during major installation periods and while events are operating
- Applicants should be based in or within reliable commuting distance of San Diego County and have dependable transportation to project sites
Physical and Work Requirements
- Ability to work indoors and outdoors in active event environments
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and work on technical installations for extended periods
- Ability to safely lift and carry production equipment and materials
- Comfortable using ladders and working around truss, lighting equipment, cables, and temporary event infrastructure
- Ability to remain calm and work efficiently when resolving technical issues during live operations
Opportunity for Long-Term Growth
While this position is initially seasonal, it has the potential to develop into an ongoing role with 365 Entertainment Group. The right person may continue supporting our year-round event production, AV, lighting, fabrication, installation, and experiential projects.
