About Midwest Metals
Midwest Metals is a vertically integrated steel manufacturer based in Adrian, Michigan. We produce and process steel under one roof, which means our people learn the whole operation — not just one station. We're hiring entry-level operators and general laborers who want to build a trade, not just clock a shift.
What You'll Do
- Load, unload, and tend CNC machines according to setup sheets and work instructions
- Perform in-process quality checks using calipers, micrometers, tape measures, and go/no-go gauges
- Deburr, grind, and finish parts to print specification
- Move raw material, work-in-process, and finished goods using overhead cranes, forklifts, carts, and hand tools (training provided)
- Band, package, label, and stage finished product for shipping
- Operate saws and other secondary equipment as assigned
- Record production counts, scrap, and downtime accurately
- Keep your work area and machines clean and organized; complete daily housekeeping and basic preventive maintenance
- Follow all safety rules, lockout/tagout procedures, and PPE requirements without exception
What We're Looking For
- High school diploma or GED
- 18 years of age or older
- Ability to read a tape measure and basic shop math (fractions, decimals)
- Willingness to learn blueprint reading and precision measurement — no prior experience required
- Reliable attendance and on-time arrival; this is a team environment where every station depends on the one before it
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and speak up when something looks wrong
- Steel-toe boots and safety glasses (or willingness to obtain before start date)
Nice to Have (Not Required)
- Any manufacturing, warehouse, construction, agricultural, or hands-on mechanical experience
- Forklift or overhead crane experience
- Basic familiarity with CNC controls (Fanuc, Haas, Mazak, or similar)
- Welding, fabrication, or vocational/trade school coursework
Physical Requirements
- Stand and walk on concrete for the duration of a shift
- Regularly lift and carry up to 50 lbs; occasionally handle heavier material with lift assists or a partner
- Bend, twist, reach, push, pull, and climb stairs
- Work in a manufacturing environment with variable temperatures, noise, dust, and oils — hearing protection and PPE provided
Schedule
- 1st Shift and 2nd Shift openings available
- Overtime available, including some Saturdays, based on production demand

Pay: $16.00 - $20.00 per hour
