JOB The Embedded Tutor supports student success by providing targeted academic assistance within specific courses and disciplines. Working closely with faculty and under the supervision of Tutoring Center Coordinators, the tutor attends class sessions, facilitates study groups, and offers one-on-one or small-group tutoring aligned with course objectives. This role is designed to enhance student engagement, reinforce course content, and promote independent learning strategies. EXAMPLE OF DUTIES Attend assigned class sessions to support students in real-time.
Provide tutoring during and outside of class hours, including in TCC Tutoring Centers.
Collaborate with faculty to align tutoring strategies with course content and learning outcomes.
Facilitate study sessions, review activities, and supplemental instruction in tutoring centers as needed.
Maintain accurate records of tutoring sessions and student progress.
Participate in training, team meetings, and professional development activities. SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION The International Tutor Training Program Certification (ITTPC) or similar tutoring or peer mentor certification.
Associate’s degree or equivalent education associate’s degree or higher in a relevant field. Degree requirement may be substituted with relevant and equivalent work experience.
1 year experience with embedded tutoring, supplemental instruction, or peer-led team learning.
Prefer demonstrated familiarity with developmental education or learning support services.
