Pediatric Registered Nurse ( Temporary / Part-time)
If you are looking for day-time nursing shifts with no weekend shifts, this may be the job for you. We are a small, patient‐centric, well established pediatric primary care practice. The environment is fast‐paced but friendly and team‐oriented. We are looking for someone to help us this summer on Mondays and Wednesdays. There is a possibility that this temporary position could become permanent.
Position Summary: The Registered Nurse is responsible for assisting our doctor with the direct care of our patients. He/she/they will ensure that all patients receive top quality nursing care and that all patients and families are treated with dignity and respect.
Core Responsibilities:
- Check patient vitals (height, weight, blood pressure, temperature, pulse oxygen)
- Ask patient or parent basic health screening questions (in person or via telemedicine)
- Record information obtained from patient in electronic medical record
- Perform hearing and vision screening
- Administer vaccinations
- Perform simple blood tests for purposes such as lead screening
- Obtain and process throat and nasal swabs
- Assess patient conditions and triage patient phone calls
- Assist with processing clinical documents, referrals, medical forms and correspondence
- Monitor incoming lab results and relay results as directed by the doctor
- Clean and prepare exam rooms for next patients
- Disinfect doctor’s tools between patient exams
- Prepare medical cultures and specimens to be sent to an outside laboratory
- Assist with creating plans for patient care
- Teach patients and their families how to manage illness or injuries
- Keep exam rooms and lab fully stocked with basic supplies from inventory
- Record and monitor vaccine refrigerator temperatures daily
- Assist with other projects as assigned such as BMI tracking
- Assist with other patient care as appropriate and within scope of medical training
- Adhere to office policies/procedures and comply with applicable regulations
- Always maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA
Education and Technical Requirements:
Current New York State Nursing License
Registered Nurse diploma or degree
Proof of vaccination as required for health care workers by New York State. governmental and office policies. (Currently this includes COVID and Influenza vaccines)
CPR Certification
Skill with giving vaccinations, performing simple diagnostic tests and obtaining vitals
Experience with data entry and navigation in an electronic medical record system
Experience in pediatrics or family medicine is preferred

Ability to analyze and use medical knowledge to assess situations
Highly motivated, and highly organized with attention to detail
Excellent interpersonal skills while managing multiple priorities in a fast‐paced and ever‐ changing environment
Ability to communicate effectively and show compassion
Must be punctual and reliable
Work Schedule:
This is currently a temporary position with potential for a permanent hire. This is a part-time position for Mondays and Wednesdays during the summer. The candidate we hire will be expected to work both the Monday and the Wednesday shifts.
Monday
8:30 a.m.‐ 5:00* p.m.
Wednesday
8:30 a.m.‐5:00* p.m.
There is potential to occasionally pick-up Tuesday or Friday shifts but only if interested. We are closed on weekends.
* As with any first line clinical position, the end of shift time may vary slightly due to emerging patient medical needs. The shift end times above reflect the average time we are finished with in-office patient care.
Our office is closed for most major holidays (i.e. Memorial Day, 4th of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day and New Year's Day). The office is usually closed for one week during the summer along with some random days throughout the year based upon the doctor's schedule.

The physical demands of this job require an individual to be able to work at a computer while sitting for part of the day and to have the stamina to be moving around the office to perform the nursing duties throughout the shift.
